Dr. Nicoleta Nedelcu
Award-winning physicist, Renowned Thin Film and Surface Characterization Expert, and Published Author
Nicoleta has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Romanian Academy 2019. Her doctoral research focused on thin film deposition and surface characterization. She graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Physics at Ovidius University and, in 2009, graduated with a Master's in Condensed matter physics and nanostructure systems. She started working as a Research Assistant in 2010 at the Institute of Chemistry Physics “Ilie Murgulescu.” In 2011, she worked as an Engineer Physicist and an optical coating designer for the UV-VIS-NIR-IR spectral range at the OphirOptics brand of Newport Corporation. She worked from 2017-2018 in scientific research to develop national, primary, and reference standards and traceability to SI units at the National Institute of Metrology. Started in 2019 to work at the Institute of Solid Mechanics of the Romanian Academy. Nicoleta was awarded December 2023 with a Romanian Academic Awards in category of Best Physician for 2021 Henri Coanda prize award. This was awarded for Group of work, Method and Advanced model in Analytical Techniques, and materials characterization with different technological application. During her career, Dr.Nedelcu published over 20 scientific articles, and this year, her first book: "Thin films -Process and Characterization Techniques" was published in Springer.
